Becoming Catholic

Do you want to know more about the Catholic faith? Do you have family members, friends, or co-workers who have expressed interest in the Catholic Church? Are you married to a Catholic and want your entire family to worship together? Have you been baptized in the Catholic Church but never received First Reconciliation, First Communion, or Confirmation? The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program is for all these situations. At St. Francis, the formal sessions of RCIA run from early September through Easter. Our 2022-2023 sessions are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm in Room 108 of the Parish Life Center (the building that includes the Church Office).  You are welcome to join us for these sessions.

Although no pre-registration is required to attend, if you are interested in participating we would like some information from you in advance which will help us adjust the program to better meet your needs. Please contact Deacon Mick Hovanec, call the church office at (901) 756-1213, or follow the link to the RCIA Adult Inquirer Form below.

The Church welcomes inquirers at all times, even during those months when the formal RCIA sessions are not scheduled. Someone from the RCIA team will be happy to meet with anyone at any time of the year. Please contact us to let us know of your interest.

Some inquirers into the faith will also want their children to join them in the Catholic Church. We welcome children under 7 years of age through parental participation in Baptismal preparation classes. Call the church office for Baptism Class information. In order to enter the Catholic Church, school-aged children need age-appropriate religious education in a Catholic school or in our Parish Religious Education (P.R.E.) program. We will work with families to determine how best to meet their needs.
